Ok... I've done everything pretty much by the book and in 2 months I've succesfully colonized 2 cakes and have had a good harvest of around 10 shroomys(more are growing as i speak) Believe it or not I actually did this by microwave sterlizing cheap plastic containers I found in aisle 12.
1.29 for 6--hell yeah!! Anyway I need to know if repeatingly boiling the shrooms with small amounts of water and then strainning them into a tea with kill a lot of potency. I've tried this once and tripped balls only difference was I drank it right away while this time I want to store it. The mushrooms are

Heat kills the active ingredient.... how did you go about sterilizing in the microwave?

No, it won?t kill much of the potency. Grind the shrooms in a coffe grinder to a powder. put into a small amount of boiling hot water, stir well for a few minutes then drain. repeat with fresh hot water a few times.
A good way of storing this tea is to freeze it, best in form of ice cubes, this way you can portion it well once it comes to taking them.

how many did you lose to contamination, and how long did you nuke the shit for in the microwave?

I washed each container with just water. While still wet I placed in the micro on a peice of paper towel. I nuked for about 6 minutes-i left the lid off so it wouldn't explode. I then made up a typical brown rice flour cake, topped off with vermiculite. I then nuked the cake for 6 more minutes. Let cool to room temp, then innoculate. I didnt think it was going to work but I'm stubborn and like to try things my way before going by the book. I used the soda bottle terrium for my first

I nuked twice-one for 6 minutes-just the empty container
2nd- with cake mixed up for 6 minutes- then innoculated
these cakes are not too tall like standard jars-more long and flat. one started to go green on the end so I cut the shit off with a sharp knife. I know this isn't smart but I let it grow anyway and the cake still flourished with no more green.
