A private investigator has been inspired to set up a hotline for people to dob in drug dealers, as the alleged celebrity drugs fiasco escalates.
Director of Auckland Investigations Danny Thompson is urging people to call with information on workers they believe to be using and dealing in illegal substances. He plans to set up a database and later pass on names and information to employers.
To cut down on false calls, the 0800 RIPOFF line will be staffed by former police officers who will interview callers. Mr Thompson says it is not just celebrities who take drugs, but also blue collar workers. His company has already identified a link between business crime and methamphetamine or P use, and he says it is imperative more people are identified as offenders.
Mr Thompson says drugs are used by those wealthy enough to afford them, or by those willing to commit crimes to fund their drug use.
(This is in response to the recent local celebrity/sports people who got caught dealing drugs... surprise, surprise. I imagine this won't lead to much good but shit flinging, scape goating and lowly snitches mouthing off about every single pothead.)
