Gateway to the Mind, not big news?

If it is true that certain drugs, such as LSD or mushrooms, mescaline, etc. do contain the keys to the mind and spirituality, why isn't this in the headlines of our news papers? It just seems like if someone respectable did a documentary on this subject with this particular hypothesis in mind, people might take more of an interest in to what these drugs are capable of. Perhaps we are waisting time trying to travel through space by materialistic means, instead I think the key to traveling space is in our minds instead of in our technology. Just think if we took all the money used for NASA research and spent it on entheogenic(sp) research.
Or maybe I'm just high......

As a fellow drug user, I hate to say this, but you smoke waaaaaaayyyy too much pot. Put down the bong, man.
Or, to paraphrase:

No such thing as too much pot, and theres no problem in thinking about these things. The best part of pot is to let your mind wander into strange convoluted ideas.
I wonder what could be uncovered if we suddenly started studying the brain with as much money and fervour as an arms race...
Probably some super-religion.

NEWSFLASH: LSD Makes you feel like you found God.
It doesn't actually make people any more interesting, more productive, more accepting, or nicer, but it makes them think they are.
No, if we gave LSD to all the world's leaders, the world would not be infinitely better. It would be pretty much the same. People who already have opinions tend to have them solidified by LSD.
"I saw god in person and he assured me that I would feel no pain as my body was blasted apart, destroying the surrounding infidels."
As soon as Charles Manson's LSD induced fantasies about murdering people to start a race war became well known, you'd think people would stop being so stupid as to think that a simple drug would make everyone better, but hey, there's still lots of naive people out there.

So LSD shouldn't be promoted because some people are assholes?
Personally, I was a pretty depressed shithead a few years ago before I discovered mushrooms. My friends even say that my personality changed in the year that I was doing mushrooms, and they say it changed for the better because I didnt hate myself or my life anymore. I know what this drug did for me, I believe in it, and its worth telling the world about.

Yeah, I had fun last semester trying to tell my old testament professor that manna was actually mushrooms in the bible.
If the fucking government hadn't brainwashed the entire world that drugs are bad I'm sure it would be a little easier to suggest my point of view.
However that's no reason to give up. If one person is able to gather some sort of understanding or piece of mind due to the use of mushrooms, and I had a direct role in promoting them to him/her then I think God will look favorably on myself, and thats a good thing I think.

I straightened out that typo for you so that people could read it without complaining about spelling errors.
Yeah, the world doesn't have to see it, individuals do. Individuals then become alligned together as a rising force in the world.

So LSD shouldn't be promoted because some people are assholes?
Uh, no. LSD shouldn't be promoted because it's not the wonder drug you think it is. It doesn't magically make people happy or magically make lives better. In fact, lots of people are able to live great lives without LSD.
Who knows, maybe you would have been just as happy without discovering mushrooms, maybe you just found them around the same time as you were growing out of normal teen angst.
Just because you have a deeprooted belief in something doesn't make it so.

I'm in no way saying psychadelics are going to help everyone, so in that sence, no they arent wonder drugs. I do however believe that in the right hands it can be used positively.
I never claim that the things I say are the absolute truth, I am mearly speculating and disussing ideas that I have.
I know nothing but the fact of my own ignorance.

A psychologist can also help people, but something that makes you feel better about yourself isn't going to save the world. There's no reason for it to be making headlines.
In the right hands a pencil can be used positively, it doesn't mean pencils are special.

A pencil has never made me hallucinate a conversation with God. If it did, I would consider pensils to be special.

Maybe if you do more reading you'll have more respect for writing utensils.
Just because something creates a wild colorful experience doesn't mean it's going to save the world, or has any significant long term effects on someones thoughts or personalities.
Some of the greatest minds of all time never touched any drugs, and lots of plain, uninteresting people have.
