dwarfed with cracked caps?
    #444872 - 11/02/01 02:52 PM (23 years, 2 months ago)

sorry if this is a little amateurish, but i posted it in mushroom cultivation and have had no repies at all.. maybe someone here can help.

what causes dwarfed shrooms, and what causes the caps to crack - background - they are cased (bottom layer 50% soil 50% verm, top 100% soil, as per shroom wizards grow guide.) being her first time casing, my pet mongoose's trainer skrewed up a few things, but is managing to get a semi-pathetic yeild; any help would be much appreciated. (she's fanning 2x per day (as work schedule permits), and giving flourescent light for 8 hours per day (though not sure if the time is significant, just the presence of light) - temperature is constant 72 degrees F, soil is being kept moist, (not wet, not dry), with once a day misting.

thanks for any help.

Short shrooms could be your substrate - use millet and youu wont have that problem...Cracked caps is low humidity unless your growing tassies - they just always crack up a bit...:-)
