Very nice man
I hope you're planning to get a few Salvias soon
Edit: I am curious. No one ever gives you guff for your poppies?

no guff, alot of people ask about them tho, like, what type are used for opium, legality issues, curious stuff
i would LOVE to grow some salvia, i thnk i would keep an indoor mother and plant cutting outdoors in the late spring for a fall harvest, then learn how to extract.
if it ever became illegal i would just hide it with my basil. it would blend right in, and who knows? maybe the companion planting would stimulate flowering. maybe they just dont like to flower in pots i bet they are aphid magnates.

How do you respond to those inquiring about your poppies? If I grew them, and was questioned, I'd probably just find myself pleading ignorance. As far as I understand, it's what exactly you know about latex production that determines whether or not you're breaking the law when cultivating them.
If you're located in the US, with Salvias, I think it's a pretty good bet that any criminalization, at least in the jurisdiction of the state, would be similar to the bill recently passed in Louisiana. Under this recent bill, a rather long list of ethnos were targeted, but can still be grown legally for ornamental purposes. They are only illicit if intended for human consumption.
I am a bit confused as to what is supposed to qualify as evidence to one growing for other than ornamental purposes. Maybe someone could clear this up for me further?
They are so inconspicuous looking though, I'd doubt you'd have to concern yourself with hiding them much, should the situation arise.

when people ask me about opium production i tell them how it dont in the middle east, with scoring and scraping, then disolving, filtering and reducing.
then i draw their attention to the fact that my pods are unlanced and allowed to mature till dried for floral arangements, so they can see im in fact not making opium.
