Starting work early...
    #4445308 - 07/24/05 12:05 AM (18 years, 8 months ago)

So I'm about to start my new shift at work. It begins at 3AM and ends at 11AM.

I'm not sure as to whether or not I should go to sleep at like 8, or if I should just try to stay up, go to work, and eventually adjust my body to my new schedule. The problem is, I won't be able to get to sleep at 8, or if I do, I won't be able to stay asleep, my body will think it's a nap.

I say choose between a downer and an upper. If you go to bed now, a downer would help a lot, but then again you'd be really drowsy when you have to go to work. On the other hand, you could stay up and use an upper (caffeine or something) to help you stay awake, but you would be quite tired when the coffee wears off.

If I were you, I'd stay up man

Oh, fuck me. Want to hear something sad?

I'm sitting at the Shroomery, and totally forgot my options that included using drugs! I can just load up on caffeine starting at like 2, drink several coffees during the day, pass out after. I'll get my hand on some Adderall for next week, too. Thanks for the ideas :-). Anyone else?

If you get in the habit of going to sleep during the day, your body WILL adjust. I've done it before, hopefully not again. What kind of job is it? If you have more than one day off in a row, try staying awake for 24 hours and going to sleep however many hours of sleep you need before waking up for work. Then stay up until that time, and go to sleep at the same time the next day. Ideal for a Saturday/Sunday. By Monday, you'll be up at 3am or whenever no problem, ready to go to work, and be ready for bed at the appropriate time.
