i feel this is the most appropraite location for this post.
"Jaidev writes ";Stand on the shoulders of giants' is what Google claims its new service allows you to do. Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.""
turns out it is actually really fucking cool

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Al Einstein

simone, Google comes out with like 60 things like this a quarter. Only a few are implemented. But they are truly the pioneers of internet software. This is really tight

Sorry it's a bit off topic, it's just a thought for the googlers.
Everyone said Google wasn't a good stock to buy. If you followed the contrarians way you would have made a ton of money. As for now, the stock trades in the 300's. So the thought is, should you still listen to ppl when everyone says it's too expensive or follow the contrarians way and buy it?

i think google invests alot of its time and money into making its services better in an innovative way. they spefically allow all employees a time where they can develope ideas they arnt currently working on. its from these projects that were created on free time that we get awesome services like gmail, google scholars and google maps. im hardly the person to talk to about the "market" or what stocks to buy. but i feel google has their hearts in a better place then most corporations with comparable influences. that alone is worth banking money on, in my opinion.

I had always wanted to buy stock in google, and still would. I knew that place was going up...just like all the other internet companies while still producing some new and unheard of ideas.
Of course at some point, its probably gonna crash, someday they'll run out of ideas...maybe. Maybe not...

True, unless they come up with an idea to revolutionize search engines. They pretty much do the same thing every other search engine does: Search. If they could think of something completely new and unheard of they'll go sky high.

I'm still waiting for google, msn, yahoo, or any of them with the financial means to go scan the entire library of congress and put it online. We have virtually nothing to search for from the pre-internet days. Try searching for the works of Einstein, Prued, Plato etc., or any of the classic literature. It just isn't there except what someone has written recently about them. RR
