Grow Log For Oysters On A Revised PF Recipe
    #4438276 - 07/22/05 03:52 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Ok i just knocked these up about 5 days ago with the same LC as seen in Here . For these i followed the PF tek but because decided to try some supplmentation on it. The yield off my last cakes were pretty good and if these are qualatatively better i willl do a side by side comparison.

The materials(Bought at Home Depot and Wild Oats):

1/2 pint jars with a ratio of 2:.5:.5:1 verm:BRF:Oat Bran:Water. The water consistency was a little higher than i would have liked but all in all it seems alright. Every time i have Knocked up oysters from an LC it seems to take 3 days to take hold but then has explosive growth. Here are the pictures of the jars as of 7/22:

I will try and Give this an update every few days or so.

Xburn,
The ratio of 2:.5:.5:1 verm:BRF:Oat Bran:Water, is it by weight or volume? Thanks.

by volume.... I didn't really care this time. If i do a side by side i will use weight of course for accuracy. But your average joe isn't going to care and i am well pretty average. Stress the pretty

If o knew a place to get sawdust that is guarenteed free of heavy metals i would but i dont. So this is easy. All the ingridents can be obtained from a grocery store. Straw is easy but out of the way and like i said right now tacking the average joe's point of view. If this cahnges the flush size then it is easy. If not ow well next up in the line of high cellulose stuffs.

I see you've added Oat Bran to the mix. Do you see Blue Oysters responding better with this added? I may be growing some Blue Oysters soon myself, so any advice you could give would be valuable.

well the zolonization seemed to be about the same. The jars ar ealmost ready to be birthed. These are phoenix or pearl oysters though not blue.

re read your post, yes i think they should respond better because it will add different nutrients to the substrate. We wouldn't be very healthy if all we ate was cow.
