Mycellium problem please help
    #4437246 - 07/22/05 09:46 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Okay This is my second attempt here i have mycellium growing at least 50% colonized the problem is that it was growing then stalled i found out i had to much moisture, then growing started again.. now its stalled or stopped again.. dont know if it just does that or if my temps are fluxing to much cause of airconditioning in the house it is usually 80 degreessometimes goes to 78 degress sometimes up to 86 degress mainly 80 does anyone know if that may be why such slow growth or maybe not enough moisture now ? im using a ultrasonic humidifier.. the other dumb thing i did last night was i saw a yellowish tint to the mycelium and i took some peroxide with water in a spray bottle and sprayed twice and now the stuff looks like crap what do you guys think?

your temps are fluxuating way too much. what are you using the humidifier for??? in the post you say your at 50% colonization ?!?there is no reason you should have put peroxide in the jar, it's the waste product of the mycellia. you need to do more reading!

how are you growing? what stage are you at? are they in jars? are they casings? are they PF cakes? the peroxide depends on the ratio of water you used. most people who use h2o2 use a 10% h2o2 to 90% water mixture.

im growing with a kit called the soul food machine its a great kit... it uses a heat lanmp that is 4watts keeps good temps steadily its just that with it being summer people in my household tend to like sub zero temps but i have found a way to keep the temps from fluxing i have it at a steady 80 degrees... i used the humidifier cause it came with the kit in the instructions it says to put the humidifier on 1 hour off for 2 then 1 on off 2 ect..before i had kept it 24/7 which was to much moisture i turned it off for 4 days and that solve the problem the mycelium started to grow again but since then it has stalled so i wasnt sure if it was the temp or lack of fresh air

ok, first. You should never EVER open your PF jars after inoculation. Bad idea. Second, you should never add water to your PF jars after inoculation. Third, the yellow stuff was myc piss, nothing to wory about. Last, there is no reason you should be running a humidifier during colonization. It's really only needed when you start fruiting your jars.

Read the PF tek for simple minds, get away from the grow kit instructions, and do a lot of searches here.

well, like i said, if you opened your jars before they were @ 100% id say more then likely you have a lost cause on your hands.  But you never know, a few jars might make it out alive   GL man.

actually im not using jars i have this plastic dome type thing its a kit.. i was in sterile conditions im just worried that with me spraying the mycelium with the water and it kinda looks like it melted im just wondering if i raise the temp to 84 degrees if that would help disapate the moisture off the mycelium so it will turn around faster or if i just wait 3 or four days if it will turn around
