Sterilization Question
    #443692 - 10/31/01 09:58 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

Will soaking my jars in Pine_Sol Cleaner & Antibacterial solution prior to adding substrate to them be a good sterilization technique?

It might be ok if you rinse well afterwards you will want to dilute the pine sol first also, I know with bleach a 10% solution is recomended. Why dont you just use bleach.
Actully I dont think it is necessisary if you are going to PC the jar though.

Indeed, a good soak in 10% bleach is highly advised. You shouldnt leave submerged for much longer than 12 hours or else you risk a residue buildup to create on the jars. A good six hours is advised. You'll have to wash the jars out with hot water and soap after too. I would also advise to dry them with a paper towel or clean cloth. You just spent all that time getting them rather sterile and you certanily dont want to rub a bunch of contaminates on them.
