It disgraced me how our prime minister had the audacity to broadcast on the news that the bombings were most likely down to al-qaida when there was no proof whatsoever.
why would that disgrace you? it turned out to have been islamic extremists, brainwashed by al-quaida-linked nutters, didn't it? Quote:
I just wish, whoever it is that's doing it would aim for the houses of parliament, where the real terrorists hang out, rather than murdering innocent people.
well, civilians have always been targets in wartime. and the British government are not terrorists, just an elected group of politicians doing their job.
down t'pit, eh? why are you taking this attitude of slating the leaders when our country is being attacked by islamic extremists - compare Blair's response 2 weeks ago to that of Bush on 9/11: he was talking to kindergarten children about bunny rabbits, someone came and whispered in his ear ..... he carried on standing there, not knowing what to do for about 10 minutes before they ushered him off. At least Blair known how and when to act as a leader when one is called for. i was pretty proud of him personally, my own politics aside.

If you're trying to slam Bush, I don't even think he stayed in the classroom for another 10 minutes after the attacks on the WTC.

Because that assumption was made based on a website on the internet, which is most certainly not evidence of anything, although Blair had no problem broadcasting to the planet that it was "relatively clear" it was Islamic extremists but it wasn't, they were all British men, of the Islamic faith (apparently).

It depends what your definition of terrorism is. I'd call anyone who has no problem murdering thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan via carpet bombing a terrorist. Britain has had these attacks coming to us for a long time, it's a war between terrorists and we are the chief instigators. What's he done that's made you so proud exactly? Made a little speech saying that the attacks "will not destroy our way of life" by which he means, carry on going to work, don't stop to question the motives behind the attack what a load of good that's done, how is that going to prevent terrorists? The whole lets get on with as normal attitude is an ignorant and naive one and I can't believe people have fallen for it. ...yes, doesn't it just make your chest swell up with immense pride. Hurrah for Britain and its saintly leader.

1. Carpet bombing isn't used in Iraq.
2. The way you deal with religious terrorism that can not be negotiated with is to continue as if undisturbed. Fear and paranoia is exactly what terrorist hope to achieve.

They bombed whole areas of Iraq indiscriminately, that's what carpet bombing is, as opposed to bombing strategic targets. And they used cluster bombs.
We should be scared of what's happening to our country and not going about our daily business in total ignorance, assuming the problem will just go away if we pretend we're not scared, that certainly isn't going to help prevent anything.

They definitely did not bomb indiscriminately.
Cluster bombs are pretty darn precise. Where they are bad is when the tiny "bomblets" don't not explode on impact, which can cause civilian fatalities afterwards.
Your accusation that the soldiers are just closing their eyes and dropping bombs wherever they land is silly and not based on fact.

The whole point of cluster bombs is that they're not precise, they're designed to do as much damage in an area as possible. They send tiny bombs shooting out in all directions, that is not precise.
Tens of thousands of innocent people were murdered because of indiscriminate attacks on major Iraq cities, what more proof do you bloody need?! To say otheriwise is again, being completely naive and ignorant.

well, i'm sorry if i caused you offence by suggesting that it was islamic extremists that bombed London, or that i was impressed by the emergency services' and government's response. the UK and US military action in Afghanistan and Iraq were a response to earlier aggression and terrorism, in New York, Bali, Madrid and elsewhere, and the cycle of violence is indeed horrible. but anyway, wrong forum for this PAL stuff, sorry everyone to have started a downer by going off topic.
the latest news on the London bombing II is that the devices were genuine and failed, and several people were seen (at least one a teenager) escaping from the scenes. other possible devices are suspected out there somewhere in the public transport network. nobody has said anything yet about the origin or religion of the perpetrators, but i suspect the international news will be full of regular updates.

My Dad thinks that the Tour de France is going to get hit next and some one is going to run out and blow up Lance Armstrong.
There is no fucking security at that thing sometimes its hard to even see the road because the fans are all over the track pulling back a split second before they get hit.
