yea looks alright... It looks a little bit too wet and to compact in the jars but as long as you have a lot of sringes you should be fine in trying to use the jars. Ive really messed up many times added way more water so its like a muddy jello and had even better growth then less water even. its a lot easier then it look I started about 1 month ago and have alrdy ate my own shrooms and have some drying. try to make sure the spore liquids flow along the edge of the glass a least into the middle of the jar then wait about 3 days for some signs of cult. make sure the temp says about 77 to 82 f. as far as boiling as long as the water does not flood the shit it will be fine just make sure you let them cool down in the fridge till they are cld to handle and only use about 1 cc or so it does not take much.

The substrate actually feels like damp sand, the moisture went away pretty quickly once I started mixing. Some jars are tapped down, some kept loose, some with more dry verm on top, I tried many different things to see what came out best. I have a total of 10 jars, and I'll probably be using 1cc per jar as I only bought one syringe. I just hope the boiling water doesn't enter the jar...even if some does, the substrate is a BIT on the dryer side so it should be ok...I hope ;-)

I bought 9 12 cc syringes when I started for 42.50. the first 4 jars I did exactly to pf tek step. about 3 days later good culture signs.but I noticed with more water in fact as much water as you can pack into the substrate without it becoming muddy and still containing air pockets it grows better. large chunk verm helps lot. When you heat them they substrate will allways mud down a bit. Ive even thought some of my cakes dried out but they didnt at all they had lots of moisture inside. goodluck. btw I used a presure cooker and ive still had 0 contams.

I will definitely invest in one whether or not this yields anything good...what do they go for $50-$60? Also, where did you buy your syringes? My 1 syringe of Psilocybe Cubensis Ecuadorian cost me $17.00 from sporeworks. Now do they have to stay in the fridge or can I let them cool in the fridge for a few hours then into my room? I don't want other members of the household to disturb it, and I'd rather it behind a locked door. And one more question...once sterilization is complete can I tighten the lids or should they remain loose...I figure If I'm putting them in the fridge with other food I should tighten it.

I think they are like 40$ at walmart. I bought my tak mountain strain from thelittleguy.com on a special they had. I think you can keep it in your room but it wont last the 5 or 6 months it would in the fridge. I think it would at least last a month plenty of time to inoculate some more jars. you can use like .5 cc per jar if you really wanna stretch it out. it really does not matter if they cool for a few hours or not. did your jars mud up or are they alright?

lol your puting your jars in the fridge? mycylium will grow slowly that way... the air in the jar will be fine for the culture time abuot 2 weeks if it starts to slow down when you birth them it will finish culture. the jars should be in the dark out of direct bright light at about 77 to 85 not over 98 not under 70. yes all lids tight

I haven't inoculated them yet...im just looking for a spot to put them after sterilization until inoculation day. Lol, I've read enough to at least know to keep them in a dark, humid, 80? area once inoculated.

sounds good! Well on a side note my jars are done sterilizing and 3 have small hairline cracks in them...I'm going to try and colonize at least one or 2 of them just for the hell of it, wouldn't want to waste a jar that might work. If anyone recommends otherwise, I'll have more spore solution per jar anyway so win/win right? :-P
After the boiling, they have become a little wetter...should I leave the jar lids loose to try to get some of that water out of there?
