Is the Myc eating the infection ?
    #4401558 - 07/13/05 08:45 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Have a blue/black infection in between inoculation sites but the myc has already started to cover that area. Would anyone suggest to dab it with h2o2, just cut it out or both. The myc at this point has covered it and can barely see it now. Also at this point I see another coming in right above it. Thanks

sounds like a recently inoculate cake, if parts arent colonized, you have 2 choices, wait it out and see what happens or dump the jars and start again.

Just one of them had this happen. All jars were taped at the inoc. sites exept this one. So, I attribute this to being untaped.

sounds like a dumper... it's pointless to try and save it if you suspect an infection at this early stage

I'd toss it.

It could fuck up future grows.

Not worth it IMO.

Well, I've yet to have a contaminated jar (knocking on wood), but if I did I'd toss it. Fuck getting a house full of contaminant spores.

Thanks, none the less. Since, the majorty vote is for a toss out. Would wild growing be a bad idea. You know, dig hole, throw cake in, cover, and wait and see if some come up with out bacteria growing on them.
I just hate letting that pretty myc covered jar go !!!!

I think everyones saying "toss the jar" meaning toss the contents. And 25-50 cent jar is refering to the cost of the substrate in it. Most dont toss the whole jars, they clean them out carfully and are fine. Personally I just toss them, less then a buck for the jar itself, and I've found that I dont get contams, except at the jar stage, and then I know where it came from. Not just mold spores floating around, usually. I can leave open air casings without worry.

You can bury the cake outside for sure, the sun and weather usually gets rid of molds. Try to cut away the infected areas and only plant the good stuff. Either way the point is to get whats in the jar out of your house as quickly and efficiently as possible.
