Cakes Only Fruit Once
    #442920 - 10/31/01 08:54 AM (22 years, 4 months ago)

My PF cakes are only giving me one flush. What gives? They arn't getting contaminated. Humidity is always 90+. They just seem to shrivel up and die. Isn't it true that you are suposed to get bigger flushes your second and third time? Any one have any ideas/sugestions?

Thanks guys

Are you rehydrating in any way. Dunking, or placing directly on wet perlite maybe?

I don't really know anyone who grows mushrooms. I just come here for fun.

If they're shriveling, they're drying out.

rehydrate them by 1 of 3 methods i know of

1. stick half a mcdonalds straw into the cake and put water into the straw so the cake absorbs it

2. place cake directly onto the wet perlite

3. fill the jar that the cake was colonized in with water and stick the cake in overnight

mushrooms need water to grow, try doing one of these things and you will get more flushes

good luck

As I've been told, putting the in the fridge is to "cold shock" them, to induce fruiting agian.
