Powering PC fans
    #4429083 - 07/20/05 05:49 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Is there an elegant way to power PC fans outside the case. I think the only requirement is 12v so will it work if I just get a PC power supply and cut off the connectors then just wire the 12v leads to the fans?

yep, that would work. solder and heat shrink it for a good connection and good appearance.

Or You could get a multi-purpose adapter and just splice the 12v cables, alot cheaper than a pc-power supply.

Thats true, I can probably scrape up a couple of those transformer cords that output 12v. Depending on amperage I could probably run a couple of fans off one of those.

Thanks
