which strain for newbie grower?

im growing from a PF tek jars/cakes etc.. i have all the materials ready to go except the syringe, which is a good psilocybe cubensis strain for a newbie or does it matter? should i just pick the most apealling to me? or is there a certain route to go? i was thinking between the Hawaiian or Puerto Rican off spores101 would any of these 2 be ok?

I have found Thai Lipa Yai to be a fast germinator and colonizer, which really helps confidence :smile:

Thai Lipa Yai does it have high potency? does potency vary from strain to strain of psilocybe cubensis or do the strains pretty much have the same potency values?

im a newb to this myself, i just went through the different spore sites and read up on each strain and found the ones most appealing to me. from what ive read and heard repeated by vets over and over is that potency mostly depends on substrate/growing conditions and can vary between 2 mushrooms growing right beside each other...the potency difference between strains is very small and somewhat unnoticeable.

from my current knowledge i might suggest you try South American or EQ. but hell, its your choice. :laugh:

also i sort of wished i would have looked up on liquid culture before i used up my syringes and tossed 'em :/

Ive noticed that GT seem to be somewhat slow colonizers. You may want to go for south AM, and ive like PAL too, pretty quick colonizer. But GTs are great too.
BY THE WAY, to whoever was complaining earlier in the thread about this post, notice that he was calling on suggestions for a strain from other peoples experiences. He was not asking about the BEST STRAIN EVER, so no need to link the rules. If some of us would like to tell him/her about our first experience, i seem no problem with that. And if your tired of NEWBs asking that question (I know i did a few months ago), dont reply. But there is nothing wrong with inquiring about peoples past tries. GOOD LUCK!!!! :laugh:

thanks datefulgead ! thats exactly what im trying to do...reading and reading is good but its kind of like trying to pay a bill with an automated machine.. other then talking to a real rep. i bought a GT syringe last night.. soo ill have to try these first..my next tries will be ecuador, B+, and Z strain.. thanks for all your guys input and ill tell you how the grow goes.
