Is it possible to grow cuttings with out rooting powder or liquid. every guide I have read so far uses some chemical to stimulate the cuttings. Can this be done naturally?

I obtained 100% success some years ago using liquid rooting hormones and rockwool. You should soak the rockwool pieces into water for about 24h in order to stabilize the pH.
Good luck! keep us informed.

In my experience, MJ isn't a real easy plant to clone, thus the need for hormones or rooting gel. It is possible without these chemicals, but I have a much lower success rate. Good luck, though!

yes i have heard of the willow bark thing as well..
there is a tree and shrub nursery here that i believe pounds willow bark and soaks that in water, using it as a hormone
they can take sticks, branches rather, of a willow and just put them into the ground, to propogate the tree furthur.
i am wondering about using salvia as a rooting hormone for other plants.. it seems to contain the neccessary chemicals to do it quite nicely on its own.. has anyone ever experimented with this?

You can put them in a glass of tap water and set them under floros or on a window sil and they will grow roots.

The Willow Branch Rooting Solution -----------------------------------------
Cut some willow branches (All willow species produce this natural rooting hormone), into 2" or 4" long pieces (enough pieces to fill a bowl).
Put the willow cuttings into a big kettle (or pot) on the stove, fill with water (all cuttings should be are covered by water). Turn on minimum heat setting, cover with a lid, and leave on low (but do not boil) for 2 hours. Then turn off heat and leave kettle covered for 12 hours.
After the mixture has cooled for 12 hours, the water should be a dark brown. Strain out the water, and discard the branches. Pour the mixture into a container with a plastic top with holes pre-made, and just drop your cuttings in. Let the clones sit in the hormone for 12 to 24 hours (thus allowing the cuttings to fully absorb the rooting hormones), then plant into your medium.
Use as much rooting hormone as you require, then discard the used portion. The unused hormone can be stored in the ice box for years.
