To cake, or not to cake...

That is the question!

I colonized about 16 jars, 7 being equador strain and 9 being b+ strain. It was awesome, all 7 equador strains became contaminated with green mold and only 4 b+ jars are colonizing. But what the hell, you live and you learn right?

Yet with all this failure, and about 4 weeks spent into this little "project" of mine, i really do not want to screw up the 4 colonizing jars at all. So whats the safest method? Casing or Caking?

This is what i plan to do -

Once the cakes are fully colonized (everything i can see is white) im going to wait 3-5 days to let the myc really get a firm grip and eat up the center of the verm/BRF/water 1/2 pint jar. Once these 3-5 days are up, i am going to dunk them by pouring distilled water into the actual jar they were used to grow in then let them sit in my fridge overnight. Once this is done, im going to fill up my fish aquariam with about 1 inch of perlite, then pour in about 1/2 inch distilled water. Seal the top of the aquariam with a air-tight seal then let them do their business. I plan to leave the light on in the attic in which they will be fruiting for about 10-12 hours every day. The light is indirect and is not shining directly on the fruiting chamber (the 10 gallon aquariam).

Does that sound like one of the safest and most efficient ways to do it? I know people are like case case case but i really dont want to, due to the fact that there is a higher chance of contamination and that it takes longer.

So please, tell me im planning on doinf the right thing, thanks for your helps buds and pals of the shroomery.

it gets real hot in attics this time of year, unless, you're in the southern hemisphere, where it's winter

Yeah, I was planning on using the attic until I realized it was getting around 120 degrees in there!
