techno lovers?
    #438929 - 10/27/01 11:03 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

Just wanted to know if there were any shroomers out there who love techno music like me

Please Please don't tell me about how much you like the latest Paul Oakenfold CD.

I'm talking about techno here, not trance or jungle.

Anyways maybe we can get something going..

nothing is wrong with jungle or hardcore.. I don't particulary like either style but to each their own.

but to call it techno is a misnomer at least to me. When I speak of techno I'm thinking more of the four on the floor Techno type of sound. a la Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Adam Beyer etc. etc.

I saw Derrick May, Derrick Carter, Carl Cox, Juan Atkins (<---- why are the best always black?) with the wicked crew in SF a few years ago but techno/house isnt my favorite I LOVE a good funky breakbeat any day..

Electro-tek is another sub-genre of techno that you might be interested in. It's getting really big.

not bad at all.

It's like a pure 909 song!! =).. love those claps..

the synth that you use at around 2:10 is really cool. I would recommend a different use of your hi-hats though.. throwing them over the bass didn't do it for me. or maybe it's the hi-hat that you used that I don't like..

what program do you use by the way?? I've never really been into tracking.. just spinning.. keep writing the tunes though bro

click on his name and follow some of the links and check out his track "here have some music" Its not techno but its my favorite.
Smack you truely have a gift for making music. You should serriously conciter going to the Academy of Arts in SanFrancisco. Thats where I get cirtified in all my buteher cirtification stuff I do for work and I have seen their studios... 100% top notch with everything you would ever need for anything audio and video.... Plus its in SanFrancisco.. Nuff said their..

That song was interesting for me, I didn't really even mean to make it. The whole thing was done in hammer head with one shot. You can have it record "live" so I just had a one or two bar loop and then hit record and started clicking away.
Then I took it into acid, layered the synth in it, and doubled it over it self at the end.

Thanks for the support

Gabba... I love you.

I'm moving out to Arizona, and they have a music school there for bands or whatever, and they teach you how to independently distribute you music but the cool part is, they teach you by actually helping you do it. So basically they teach you all the recording stuff and then get you started in the music world. My friend that used to make music with me when I first started (my personal god of reso sweeps) lives down there already, so when I get there, I'm making him go with me.

My birthday is on the 31st... you could upload that mix for my present.
It would be the best present I have ever gotten. I use dial up too, so at least you know I'm going through the same hell downloading it that you'd go through uploading it.

Ok I will try harder.. I have looked into some free web space sites and some problems are.
1) finding sites that give around 50mb of free space
2) finding one that will let me upload large files..

I may have to break the file down into 5mb files and lable them sequentialy.

Then I could piece them back together... scary thought. We've all heard the horrible things that happen when I mix music together.
You could put it up at ZeBox.com, or I'd understand if you said forget the whole thing.

This guy is on the shroomery too. Real talent here. Not the kind of techno that I was really speaking of either. But well thought out stuff. Check out the difference that Hardware makes. =)

I first heard Techno music in '91 at my first rave. I spent '92 in an acid-induced haze going to raves 3 or more nights a week. I have always loved techno but I will admit I can't really differentiate between the different styles. I just know what I like when I hear it. I have a very specific sound I always search for and once in a while I come across something I like. Sometimes it is groovier stuff, and other times it is hard-pounding insanity. I have never been able to put my finger on it but there is something there that always grabs me. My latest kick is a CD mixed by George Acosta called "Awake". Its on the groovier, mellower side of things but I really dig it.

BTW, the best live techno I ever heard was at a rave in the mid-90s. It was a tour called "The Trans-Atlantic Move" with some of the best in the bussiness at the time. They held it here on a dry-lake bed about 20 miles out of town (called it "Desert Move" that night). It was pure insanity! And DJ Dimitri worked the crowd for about 90 minutes in one of the most amazing feats of crowd-control I have ever witnessed by a DJ!! It was so awesome! I would kill for a recording of that session!

Just out of curiosity I dug in a box and found my stack of flyers that I saved from raves I have attended. I found the flyer for "Desert Move". The date was Sept. 30, 1995. Most of my stack is dated from 1992 though....

Oh yeah, and the DJ I was thinking of is "Super Dj Dmitry". You might know him from Deee-Lite fame.
