what should one do if in a clump of shrooms, some are ready to be harvested and others, that happen to be connected to the ready ones, are not ready?

Hmm, well if you're worried about disturbing them too much, leave the big boys until they open up and take spore prints from them.  That'd buy the little ones more time, but I don't think picking the grown ones would cause any probs.  Not unless you really mean connected...
Try picking one with the least number of 'dependants'. :smile:
