Why isn't this more common?

If growing mushrooms is so easy, why don't more people do it and why are they so rare to find? I find it hard to believe I will have real Psilocybe Cubensis growing when they're almost impossible to find in my area.

You're right. The Shroomery should just close up shop. There is no way in Hell anyone can grow their own mushrooms. Who are they trying to kid? :frown:

lol sorry I didn't mean to come off as arrogant or anything I'm just still in awe that it only takes a little bit to grow and do it yourself.

You have to thank those that experimented to get us where we are today. Mushroom growing is easy, but trying to get good at it takes time. The more you read through posts on the Shroomery, the more you want to experiment and try new things for yourself. Check out the grow logs here. I have learned a lot by reading about other peoples mistakes and successes while growing. There is endless information here to go through.

Its easy as hell to get a few doses, but do you have any idea how many people are looking for mushrooms? When you grow mushrooms, to get a pound, you must grow TEN pounds fresh...thats ten pounds of dry horse poo or compost your gonna need to get you to that pound, which is alot of space, energy, time, and work...and even then, thats only a pound, that only helps out a very few amount of people. And besides all that, growing those large amounts is risky, especially selling them. So not so many people have the ability to create enough to sell, or the urge to do so, which is why you cant find them. I guarentee they're in your area though...just another small time person with some cakes getting some doses for him and his friends.

To grow bulk takes a little skill and some dedication, and to grow for personal use probably isn't worth it if you plan to trip only once or twice (unless you're doing it for fun), so people shy away from it. It's really rather easy, though...

Wow...I knew they lost most weight when they were dried but that does sound like a lot of work. Selling is too risky around here for me, I'd rather just run off my own little setup. Thanks for the responses though :-)
