Using with MAOI's

The dosage calculator sas that you need 1/2 the shrooms to double the experience if taken with an MAOI inhibitor. I was going to use zoloft (50mg) as an MAOI inhibitor. How much, and when, is optimal to take to maximize the mushroom experience? Thanks.

I'm not sure how much i can help you out about the question you asked, but if you didn't know already MAOI's can be very dangerous if you eat other things when you are on them, you should check this site out if you're not sure what to stay away from http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/maois/maois_info2.shtml

I'd take the MAOI about an hour before taking the shrooms (you want to make sure its dissolved in your stomach, already in the bloodstream, etc). As a side note, I've found that taking half the shrooms with a MAOI doesn't exactly equal the experience of taking the orginal amount of shrooms. Although it does potentiate the dose, it changes the nature of the trip somewhat. I've found it to be less visual, less "weird", more emotional (almost like ecstasy except with the claminess). I don't know if this happens to everybody but it has to everyone I've talked to.

Very good points raised. I also believe that zoloft is not an MAOi ...but rather an SSRI...so you probably wanna check on that before you dose. Just a quick internet search on zoloft can provide u with that info. I also agree that the MAOi do not exactly equal what the real dose is like. It does potentiate it in a different manner...and for me it is also less visual, and more emotional. I did it with some friends and we all talked and had a good time, but I never had the visuals I would get on the full size dose. Just do your reading and be careful...but once and while experimentation w/ MAOi's is not super dangerous. But if you take zoloft on a regular basis you may want to find out what possible interactions the MAOi can have with it. Plus I recommend using an organic source for an MAOi...like syrian rue, which is readily available over the net and most good middle eastern markets. PEACE
