Look at this case, whats the white balls of fluff
    #4420049 - 07/18/05 05:21 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Okai, i had a pf cake, crumbled it up, placed it on the bottom of a tray, covered the top in moist vermiculite and put it back in the incubating chamber.
I thought i didnt have to cover the bottom in moist vermiculite because it would go into a fruiting chamber that has perlite on the bottom for humidty. But for next time should i still cover the bottom in vermiculite?

My main concern is, after a few days theres white balls of fluff (im guessing its myc) poking through the top.

Heres a pic (yes i know its a shit pic, but its a shit digi cam)

Do those balls mean anything?
Its hard to really see in the pic because of bad quality but take my word for it, those white bits sticking through are all tiny ball shapes. It doesnt look like the myc is spreading apart from those balls sticking out.
Ive never seen this in other pictures of casings.

Thank you from a newbee whos prob freaking out over nothing, as all good newbees do

well ok if it's still incubating then hum...Yea myndreach is probably right (like you said, a bad pic) that's mycelium and maybe primordial and if your starting to get pins...although somethings happening hear that I'm missing if your getting pins in your incubator, i mean ya that happens and it's common sometimes, but you'd usually put it in a FC when you start to get primordia...hum...yea it's you're judgment call, you're the one their, but if your starting to get primordia though the surface I'd start considering putting it in a fruiting chamber...with light of course
Take Care

>I'm missing if your getting pins in your incubator

I think your missing that there are no pins, no one said anything about pins and none are in the pictures.

It is time to fruit it and give it light and fresh air. Keep it wetter too, its to dry..see the light brown there, you can tell its drying out, keep it the darker brown it looks right after misting. Keep it there with many small mists..

I didn't think their was, I was just trying to clarify something and i didn't think their was pins which is what i ment by saying that I'm missing something if your already getting pins. I honestly couldn't tell from that pic
