Syringe contamination?

Lo, I was just wondering if syringes could get contaminated and how?
I recieved a couple of syringes today and one of the needles came completely off, so I wanted to find out if the spores were contaminated.

Guess you won't know until you try those syringes out...

The last syringe I had was contaminated... it caused horrid pink stuff to grow over the top of the mycelium in every jar. I couldn't fight it off and in the end I had to throw away ALL of my jars (sob). Hopefully I'll have better luck this time.
