pressure cooker on a smooth top stove?

My hotplate has died, and I've recently replaced my conventional coil element stove with a ceramic top stove. The pressure cooker I have is larger than the largest element on the ceramic stove. Will it damage the stove to use the PC on it, with the cooker hanging over the edges of the heated area?

If it is new you should still have the manual which should show the max weight. I would guess a normal houshold PC would be fine. Mine overhung on the small stove, I never worried. Unless you have a monster AA you should be fine. Glass stoves are more of a worry

I think repeated use on any flattop will burn the top if the PC is too big. I dont know much about it, but I do know they make big circle rings, basically a thin flat strip of metal, folded into a circle, you can put that on the burner and then put the PC on that. That supposed to be for glass stoves, if your worried about yours see if you can find one. Sorry I dont have info on where to find one, but I saw a user using and talking about one once.

No it wont damage the stove, but electronic stoves are a lot harder to control the optimal heat (to get the right pressure) than gas stoves so u might have to sit there and keep a good eye on it. Otherwise there is always the outside gas bbq

Your post saying it wont damage "it" replied to blackout, but here you quote the original poster, meaning you were replying to the original poster. Gnostic obvously thought you were replying to blackout as you said you were and blackout last mentioned glass top stoves..

I don't think it will damage its working order, but it will more then likely damage it aesthetically. I suggest you get a little propane burner.

If you have a BIG PC... weight will be a problem.
Most flat top stoves - will not withstand a large PC & a long PC cycle - without damaging it's workings.
