ha - this thread got a bit derailed!

i liked the rum diary a lot... used to have a copy of it, but some damn belgian "borrowed" it and moved back to belgium without giving it back to me...oh well, i had read it a few times at that point, so it was fine by me.

my favourite hst book... hmmm fear and loathing on the campaign trail 72 is great if you are a politics junkie. hells angels is just freaking hard core. of course, f&lilv is magic. but Fear and Loathing in America : The Brutal Odyssey of an Outlaw Journalist is probably my favourite - it's a collection of letters covering the 'middle period' of his life - for example, his campaign for sherrif of aspen is in there. highly recommended.

It's not so much of an invasion, really... if you'll check my stats, I've always posted in the pub. 

Even if there were a pub invasion into OTD I wouldn't mind; it's cool when pubbers come hang out in the other forum.  I just like to post the pic. 

I'm going to go to sleep for a few hours, and then make a pic especially for you to use, on your own turf. :wink:

I read one of the books of his letter correspondence; some of it's pretty interesting. There's this one letter where he tears Anthony Burgess (author of "A Clockwork Orange") a new asshole.

The RUm Diary and Campaign trail both sucked in my opinion. Kingdom of fear was good, hey rube was good... The Gonzo Papers are good (Three books) and the Gonzo letters were less entertaining.

I wasnt a fan of that book... The 90's were great for hunter. Kingdom of Fear should be your next taste of thompson.
