ID versus Evolution
    #4416708 - 07/17/05 11:30 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

New Scientist, 09 July 2005 issue, has some very interesting articles on the battle by creationists to push ID (Intelligent Design) into school science curriculums. I have to agree with one of the comments made by a letter writer that a universe that does not require divine intervention to operate would obviously be better and more intelligently designed than one which did require such intervention. seeing as Big Bang theory gives religion pushers a great point to start from (the old "God started the big bang" argument) I would think it would be in their interests to promote evolution as it would imply a far more intelligent and omnipotent God than creationism does. Comments?

I never understood the problem with creation versus evolution in school. Both concepts are theories. Why not use the opportunity to teach what theories are, how theories can differ, why theories are important, why a theory is not a fact, etc.

I never understood the problem with creation versus evolution in school.

The problem is that teaching creation pushed a religious agenda that is not backed by science. However teaching evolution has a vast amount of corroborating data from which to pull.
