Is there any hope for these ?





They are 3 week old WBS jars and they haven't really shown much growth over the last few days....All conditions are the same when the myc was growing good. What gives ? I thought WBS was supposed to colonize fast...1st time with WBS and don't know where to turn.

HELP !

Strange. I had a wbs jar stall out halfway colonized, It looks almost the same except it just stopped cold 3/4 the way down. I can't wait to hear the answer to this.

What temps you had them in?

i see black spots. Possibly contam? In the first pic, in the middle and bottom middle of the jar. Maybe its just a shadow or a grain.

Took another look at these and I don't think those spots are contams...I think they are just some of the different grains in the WBS...but who knows, I may be screwed. And HippieChick, your comment was what I was dreading might be the problem...maybe to dry to complete.

For those who said WBS is easier than BRF...I guess I'm the exception to the rule, because I've had very good results with BRF, and this WBS has apparently kicked my ass ! (And I am a very strict with my sterilization process)

I guess BRF isn't too bad if thats all you can do.

P.S... If they are too dry is there any way to inject some sterile water to moisten them up ?

did you leave room in the jar so you could shack it?
what size holes in the lid? type of filter etc. ?
have you tried flipping the jar over?

air exchange is what i'm hinting at.

Yep, I left about 1/4th of the jar empty so I could shake it, and I drilled two 1/4" holes in the lid for air exchange and covered with tyvek and then covered that with a coffee filter with rubber band around it.

I have flipped the jars once.

If it is too dry, is there any way to moisten the subtrate without contaminating it ? ...although at this point I guess I got nothing to lose by experimenting.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would give those jars another shack, then wait a few days, and see how they recover. or do it w/ 1 jar if you like.
if you don't see any more growth within 5 or 6 days go ahead and spawn it.
or try a g2g. never give up unless you see contamination taking over.
