1 Pint Jars?

I'v been using 1/2 pint since I started, and I was wondering if 1 pint jars are worth doing? Im sure it would take the myc a godawfully long time to cover the entire jar. Anyway feel free to add your experences/opions on using 1 pint jars.

I'm in the middle of my very first grow, in fact I picked my first mushrooms today. Needless to say, I have almost no experience. However, I did use 1 pint jars with B+ strain, and I was really worried that they would take forever to colonize. It took about 25-30 days for the jars to completely colonize (BRF). I am planning on using 1/2 pints next time to see how much faster it is.

1/2 Pints are quite a bit faster. So far these 1 pint jars are on day 3. I'll have to see how it goes from there.

yeah as you already know the reason that people usually go with the 1/2 pint is for faster colonization which lower the chance of contams.

Yea, less time for the mold to get into the cake. Figured it was worth a try though. I tapped up the needle holes and the sides of the jar to be safe.

yeah but since you taped it your going to have bad air exchange and that jar is definatly going to have to have air. go read up on tyvek (its free!!). i suggest taking the tape off now cause you have the verm layer as protection and getting the tyvek. but if you leave the tape on you can always do a forced air exchange with a hepa filter.

I made that mistake with my 1 pinters. Stopped colonizing at about 85%. It was at that point that I wished I had used 1/2 pints, but once the tape was removed, they started right back up again.

this is kind of depressing me. i am using 1 pint jars for my first grow. oh well. patience right.

first time i use 1 pints it took 25 to 30 days to colonize, when i used1/2 it took 14 to 16 days.

i use just amount the same juice for 1/2 or 1 pint. do up two 1/2 for the same amount of colony for half the time.

i also found 1/2 are a hella alot easier ot birth then the 1 pint. the 1 pint like to stick into the jars.

I'm on day 12 and 60 to 80% colonized with Texas using Quart jars.. I also am on day 4 with some Pan Cyan and I' 4 and 10% colonized..
