Spawn Bags With Filter
    #4411607 - 07/16/05 12:16 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Hi, new here, did some research, had a couple questions about bags to create substrate for casing.

I have decided to case, but looking at diff teks I see bags would be more practical than jars as far as cleanup, and the ability to work it up as it colonizing (like shaking a grain jar) and get fast colonization.

I notice that the pc time for bags is twice that of any jars, why so?

Also, on sporeworks site they say you can fold the bag over, clothespin it, pc, then seal after. others say seal before but I have seen where the bags expand with air and may burst.

Any help on you guys best ways with bags, much appreciated.

Thanks

the time issue is pretty straight forward.

given jars the 90mins are fine for their content but minding that bags
hold multiple times the jars content, the time it takes for the very core
of the bags content to be heated up & sterilizized raises exponentially.

deal is, there's more - it takes longer

all clear?

concerning the sealing, some bags tend to rip when presealed,
tehre are special thicker bags that can handle presealing great.
look into it.
i never pre-seal mine.

click the link in my sig (spawnbag pictorial) to see how i prep my bags.
