Turkish resort blast kills four
    #4411411 - 07/16/05 12:53 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Now I'm gonna go out on a limb here and speculate that it was an arabic muslim who perpetrated this terrorist attack.  :flowerchild:

Turkish resort blast kills four

Victims included holiday-makers visiting the popular resort
An explosion on a minibus in the Turkish Aegean resort of Kusadasi has killed at least four people, including an Irish woman and a British national.
At least 14 other people were wounded, including a number of other Britons who were seriously injured.

Turkish officials are investigating the possibility that the blast was caused by a suicide bomber or a parcel bomb.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the blast a "terrorist attack" without laying specific blame.

"The government will naturally take the necessary measures accordingly," he added.

The BBC's Jonny Dymond in Istanbul says Kurdish militants are the most likely suspects if it was a bombing........

If it was a Kurd, then your assumption that they were Arabic is incorrect.

Quote:

The Kurdish people are an Indo-Iranian, non-Arab population that inhabits the transnational region known as Kurdistan, a plateau and mountain area in Southwest Asia including parts of Iraq, Turkey, and Iran and smaller sections of Syria and Armenia. They speak Kurdish, an Indo European language of a similar lineage to that of Persian. They are widely thought to be descended of the Medes. Xenophon the ancient Greek historian recorded the Kurds in the Anabasis as "Khardukhi" a fierce and protective mountain dwelling peoples who attacked his armies in 400 BC. Although many Kurds live in modern-day Middle-Eastern countries, it is worthy to note that they differ from Arabs, Persians, Turks and others, both culturally and ethnically.

Comprising more than 30 million people, they are the world's largest ethnic group without its own state. For over a century, many Kurds have been campaigning (some through violence as well as political means) for the right to self-determination. The governments of those countries who have sizable Kurdish populations are actively opposed to the possibility of a Kurdish state, which would require them to give up parts of their own territories.

More than likely an attack from the PKK armed kurdish group. They have been fighting with the Turks for a long time. Maybe even the Peshmerga.

it's good to see that al-qaeda is rallying all the
smaller non-arab terrorists into action as well!

Kurds are Muslims. I think that they are Sunni Muslims.

The Kurds have been kicked around by every country that has them. Nobody likes them, cept Uncle Sam. We were the first people to stand up for them.

The Turks have been about as harsh as you can to be the Kurds. None of the Kurds in northern Iraq wanted the Turks to help out, because they didn't want Turks lording over them. Turks have been lording over Kurds for hundreds of years, and all throughout the Ottoman Empire which lasted for 1221 to 1923. These fuckers have been going at it for a god damned millenia, and the Kurds have gotten the shit end of the stick.

Kurds live mainly in parts of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Armenia, and Syria. They way the maps got drawn after the Ottoman collapse made them a minority in every country that they live in, and all those countries piss on them. There are probably around 30 million of them.

If we were to pull out of Iraq today and leave them to fend for themselves, Turkey would most probably intervene if it looked likely that an independent Kurdish state was about to be established on their southern border. That is Turkey's nightmare. They would not allow it.

Plus if the Kurds got their own state, Turkey knows the Armenians would be asking for one next.

tTis is one of the latest examples of the rising terrorism in Turkey. It is by the kurdish seperatist terrorist organization PKK. DOnt know how much it can be related to al qaeda.

About the history, yes Turkey has had some hardcore policies against the kurds for keeping them within borders and not allowing a seperate kurdish state. Turkey is composed of more than 20 ethnic groups so if it were to allow this to happen, there would be a dissolution in its territory. The problem is all the human rghts were being handled through law and politics with turkey trying to join EU and doing reforms that also effects these things. PKK had been stopped after the organizations leader was captured. NOw PKK has started the bombings again. this is plain stupid as all the problems kurds were complaining about is one by one being changed. this will only hurt the process. the pkk doesnt appeal to a lot of kurdish people anyway. they see it as destroying the real kurdish cause.

Jusst sad.
