As long as you aren't a doofus like me (dumped damp rid on a harvest ) the damp rid will pool in the bottom of the container it came in when it pulls the moister out of the shrooms. If you do it right, there should be no interaction between the shrooms and the damp rid. And even if there is, damp rid is non toxic. If you eat a bit, it will dehydrate the fuck out of you but it wont harm you otherwise.

I'm thinking that would be O.K. as long as you keep whatever container you're using vented.

About the single best investment you can make in this hobby besides a pressure cooker is a dehydrator. Set huge harvests in a multi-tray dehydrator, and come back in two days. Cracker dry, and no fussing with fans or buying more desiccant. It doesn't get any better than that, wish I had a dehydrator years ago.

Second, a little bit of moisture in mush that you are going to freeze is bad because, water expands when it is frozen.. So, if the mush molecules have water in them, and are then frozen, the water will expand, and destroy the structure of the mushrooms, and on thawing, the mushrooms will quite literally turn to mush.. If you just keep them @ room temp, with some moisture in them for a long time, then, just like weed, they'll get moldy..
Yes but how many people damp-rid dry their weed?

I thought of that, but what about the dehydrator heat degrading psilocybin and therefore reducing potency?

Quick derail, can you link me to the dehydrator you have? I want one to make beef jerky but it would also rock if it helps with shrooms.

It doesn't degrade, at least on a noticeable level. The heat thing is so overplayed. I've boiled shoom powder at a full boil for a good 10 minutes, and 2-3 gram doses sent some friends on quite the ride. A few days in a dehydrator at 140F isn't going to do much damage.

dehydrator works like magic, I use the fruit n' vegetable setting which is 130 degrees,I understand that potency loss from the dehydrator is negligible(i used spellcheck on that one, lol). I had a dehydrator before i ever needed to dry shrooms, Its a great thing to have and it's great for making snacks too, i use it all the time to make jerky and applesauce leather a few other things too.

sounds good, and the shrooms dried in this fashion don't crumble into dust?

What kind of question is that? If you abuse them, yes, they'll turn to dust. Use some common sense here.

i wish i could keep shrooms for years. i let mine air dry(no fan even) and if they make all the way to jerky dry then they had a long life.
