Starting coffee seeds - Weird

So I started soaking 6 coffee beans in water in a shot glass getting ready to plant them. After a day the water has turned a dark green. The seeds are a light tan color. Anybody seen something like this? What do you think the green is?

im doing the same right now, the green seems to be something created by the beans as they turn green after they have been in the soil for a wile...
i think u can take it as a good sign, or at least not a bad one...

I've never had any problems germinating coffee beans. Stick em straight in the soil and treat em like normal plants.

oh its not a problem.
i think its just a side effect from the seed coming back to life or something...

its not roasted. roasted beans are somewhat of a different color...

also mine had little thingies coming out of em and they are doing the same thing...

Maybe it's like that weird reaction that happens sometimes when baking with sunflower seeds........ (the sunflower seeds turn green. does anybody know why this happens?.... )

I can't get mine to sprout! I've had them in moist soil for a few months now. I pulled one out and it looked like the seed coat started to crack a little, but that was about a week or two ago. Is this normal? Do they need to be in any sort of light or heat when germinating. I know they take a long time, but I am starting to doubt them.

as long as they are not rotting u there should still be a chance to germinate.
