Ok, so if a person gets paid to kill puppies, does it mean that he's not an asshole for killing puppies just because its his job?
Cops suck as people I think. I can't understand their bully mentality. I do realize that they do a lot of good things and protect and serve and all that good stuff, but I think that they do it to feel self righteous about themselves while having the opportunity to throw black folks in jail. I'll prolly get flamed for this but I dont care. Fk the police.

There's quite a difference between killing puppies for a living and serving and protecting society from violent criminals.

no im comparing killing puppies to arresting people with weed. Its wrong and its fucked up and they still do it. Just because its thier job doesnt mean that they get off the hook for their actions. They are still puppets of oppression no matter how much good they do for people. Its fine that they lock up criminals and yes they do a lot of good things. But I still think they are mostly jerks. Yes that is a generalization but until I meet a cop that I think is nice, I still believe its an accurate generalization.

Perhaps your lack of meeting police officers comes from the bias you hold against them? I've met many police officers who are great people, and have even drank with one while I was underage.

To you, arresting people with weed is "wrong and fucked up". For many other people, it is not.
Also, cops are just humans. If treat them with respect, they will treat you with respect. Maybe you have the cliche "fuck the police" mentality because they hinder you from doing illegal activities?

I haven't read this entire thread, but there are a few points I would like to make:
1) We have no idea what the kid was actually on. It could have been 4 hits of amt rather than 4 hits of acid for all we know.
2) The kid died days later in a coma in the hospital. What caused the coma? Was it whatever drug the kid was on. Did the kid hit his head while being tased. Was it something completely unrelated?
Everybody is jumping on the bandwagon shouting that the cops killed somebody... perhaps they did, but there is certainly not enough information available for any of us to make a determination one way or the other.

I don't love or hate police, but I certainly respect them... even the 'asshole' cops get more than a bit of respect from me. There aren't many people in this world that will risk their life to protect mine without having ever met me. This is where my respect comes from.
I also realize that the police are just doing a job. Almost everything I dislike about police can be traced directly back to a politician. I am fairly certain that if certain substances weren't illegal, then the police wouldn't be bothering me. The police didn't make the substances illegal, politicians did. I don't like that police enforce these boneheaded laws, but I realize that the the alternative would be much worse.

Everyone does everything for their own ego in the end.
About cops, I think mostly fucked up people or dumb people become cops. And if they were nice people to begin with they usually get fucked up by their line of work. Power corrupts. And cops are usually power trippers IMO.
But I've also met some nice and cool cops.
I hope the day dawns when cops will be replaced by robots. At least they won't be corrupt, and they will only be as bad as the government programs them.

I don't care if their reasons are noble or selfish, I still respect the fact that every single police officer I have ever met wouldn't hesitate to place their own safety ahead of mine when my own safety is in danger.

it's not that way everywhere, most that I've encountered wont even get out of the car except to search a kid with a skate board
