Orissa India 1st flush pics, newbie

These were grown using 1 BRF PF cake spawned in pasteurized h poo and cased with 60/40 verm/coco with a bit of Bandini oyster shell agricultural lime. The OI strain colonized quickly and aggressively, comparable to Cambodians, with lots of rhizomes. Ambient temps here are in the low to mid-80's now, and this strain seems to tolerate heat well. The final wet weight of the flush was 166.7 grams.
The seond pic shows one large OI grown in another pan the same way. The pin set wasn't as even but it produced a few large specimens. This one weighed 33.6 grams wet.
BTW, what they say about the extreme potency of this strain seems to be true.

Well, necroing a completely irrelevant thread from 9 years ago is probably not the best way to get advice on that. Try the search function, if that turns up nothing then make your own thread. You'll have to pasteurize it in any case

If OI is the only strain out of the current ones you are working with that is giving you problems, and they are grown from multispore and not a clone or isolate, then it could be that you got a shit hand dealt to you from the multi spore gods.
If all your parameters are correct and they're still aborting, it could be genetic problems which at this point, you are stuck with.

It's going to be hard to help you buddy. I could guess that it's possible your OI cakes are bacterial contaminated while your other cakes are not. This could've happened during a poorly executed inoculation, or from a bacteria contaminated syringe. This is just a possibility. How do the OI cakes smell in comparison to the healthier cakes?

Smells a lil funky, i used the oven tek and was extremely cautious about being clean. Maybe next batch i should let grow in Vitro so next flush is more resistant. U think?

The oven tek is outdated and not good. You'd be better off open air inoculating than the oven tek. Build a still air box instead.

I think I remember Ralph going off in a post a few months back but I didn't realize he wasn't a sponsor anymore from it. Probably for the best. Shame too, he used to be the man a few years back. With companies like sporeworks, why even bother with Ralph. Ralph was always like two different people, and his product had become totally hit or miss. Shame.

How am I supposed to know if you birthed too soon? Do you have pictures of your cake the day you birthed it? Was it fully colonized or not?
