has anyone tried worm poo without pasteurizing?

Hi. I have a cake birthed 2 days ago but I want to turn it into a casing.

Do you think that using worm poo without sterilizing or pasteurizing might work? I can't use the oven :S.

Worn castings by themselves is NOT a good bulk substrate. It turns to mud.

Then it become OK...add some straw...also good (nice fiberous texture your going for here, and fluffy, dont forget fluffy). Still very high in nitrogen. I havnt tried it myself, but I know of great success with it (eatualive and mushroommark, double tubs) I do use worm castings in my mix. Of course that just speaks of the substrate itself. I dont know of anyone whos done it without pasteurizing (and if you put in straw youd need to). I guess if you sterilized the verm and coir (maybe not needed, but you may as well so if it fails you know where it failed) it could work..I mean this bag already has the right water content as it is (though theverm and coir wouldnt, so get them right before sterilizing and adding them) and it just sits in the bag. I have open bags sitting around for weeks and weeks before they get used up and nothing grows in them. I also had this thought...but decided against it for now, got other big projects going..let me know if you decide to try it and how it works out for you.

Hi. I'm trying two casings with spaghnum (I can't find straw here) & worm casings (procedent from hpoo & cpoo). One of that casings shows some micellium a day after:

Does it look right? or seems overlay :S.

Regards. :mushroom2:

That looks like a horrible texture...to lumpy, you want fiberous fluffy airy..
