It depends on the h/poo. If it is well aged, weathered through rainfall cycles, ran through a chipper to break up the muffins into fine fiber, had lots of hot UV direct sunlight, turned & dry to the bone. you stand a pretty good chance - without pasturization. But, still - you should hydrate it with very hot - water.

I did it for my outdoor shit and it worked fine. I wouldn't really do it for inside because I always notice bugs in the shit. Especially if its aged and has a little extra straw mixed in.

It's the possibility of bugs that puts me off trying it this way.

-No Pasturization -Soaked in hot water for 45 min (maybe 130*) -2 BRF cakes grated in and then cased with 60/40 coco/verm
Now IT worked Great but IT's onyl gonna give off 1 or 2 Flushes before it Contams!
So it's soo easy to Go without PAsturizeing but Your better off in the long run to do it!
I cant Complain though
130 wet for my 1st h/poo Attempt Ever!
Maybe next time i'll let it Colnize 100% before i case lol

Pasteurization is only going to affect colonization, after fully colonized it has the same chances of contaminating as pasteurized stuff (except bug eggs hatching I guess).

I'm cautious when I pick out my poo, and I don't pasteurize.. I've never had poo contam, only WBS.. And one time, I got bugs, but chased them off with peroxide.. Haven't seen 'em since.

I stopped pasteurizing 3 grows ago and I've never looked back. I don't even waste time putting the manure into hot water. I will collect my manure, put it directly into water mirroring the mycelium incubation temps, break up thoroughly, place into a colander, cover with foil and allow to drain for 30-60 minutes.
That's it. No cooling off period, no excessive time pasteurizing. Diver gave me the idea one day on another thread and it sure does cut down the time.

Well said. I'm not pasteurizing at all anymore, it's just not worth it, at least in the summer months (UV dried poo) Also, as an interesting side experiment I recently spawned a trich infested jar of WBS to poo. The trich grew out slightly at the inoculation points, but never went any further than dime sized spots. Mycelium overtook the entire thing eventually.
Poo seems to be nearly resistant to trich (green mold). Try not pasteurizing, you might like it and never look back.

Good information as usual guys...thank you. In truth, because I only do 5 to 10 pound pasterization it isn't a biggie anyway, but still good to know. If only I didn't have to pasteurize straw for my oysters...!!
