Pussy cat's using cakes and today he openned the terrarium to find part of the top of one cake jet black...he chucked that one, however there was also a fruit from another cake that had grown its way close enough apparently to catch the black shit, but only on a little part of its stem...he picked that one and chucked it, but left the cake there with the rest of its fruit for now. Is that cake safe? The blackness hadn't really made its way too near to the cake... Second question is, pussy cat's using the adaptation in MMGG with the McDonald's straws and adding water daily-is it safe to add a little H2O2 to that water before putting it in, so there's no more instances of this black shit syndrome? Thanks!!!

Does this "blackshit" run through the cake or is it on the surface? If it doesnt penetrate it may be that your "shroom" may have dropped its spores that have deposited on the surface of your other cake. This has been mistaken for a contaminate in the past.

Wow, looks like you're right! Thanks...but 40ounces-is it actually considered contaminated? I wouldn't think it would hurt it rght? Last night I placed the cake I thought was contaminated in my trash bin on top of just paper towels mainly...so for one thing it was not being humidified, and temps in my room overnight (no heat yet) probably dropped to high 50's...anyway, this morning after finding out it was spores and not a contam, I put that cake back in the terrarium and am hoping for the best. Am I correct in my judgment? Or should I really waste it? Thanks again people, don't know what I'd do without you!

^ Still wondering about if spores actually "contaminate" and make unsafe to eat, as well as if water injected into cakes could contain a small amount of hydrogen peroxide?? Thanks.

Spore does not contaminate..might look ugly though...
And the water could contain some small amounts but i should stick to sterile water...

mushroom matt, spores arent contams...they may make thinks look ugly, but they are safe. (i injected spores into my leg accidently, long story...lol)

sounds feasable, but sterilize the water to be on the safe side by boiling. let cool. suck up some h2o2...flame sterilize...inject..

It was probably something like your girlfriend getting pissed and being a typical female who when she doesnt get her way they look for the nearest item that has an aerodynamic look to it to wing at your head. Unfortunately in this case it happened to be the spore syringe you were just getting ready to use....lol
