I've got a large rubbermaid container for my terranium. Should I just set the cakes on the plastic? I've had the terranium running for probably about 2 wks and there is no water sitting on the bottom. On the edges of the container there is a "channel" where there would be water. Thanks for the input. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=419940&Forum=Forum2&Words=GeckoKing&Match=Username&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=419940 there's the link to my terranium pics.

In your original post you said you'd put the cakes on a wire-mesh screen to keep them off of the bottom. Sounds like a sound plan to me. In the event that condensation gathered on the bottom and created a small layer of water you'd keep your cakes safely above it. A freind puts her cakes directly on the wet perlite layer on the bottom of her terrarium.
