do Cyan's bruise blue or anything? The spore print was kind of pinkish/purple but so far no bruising. I just found a pic of Panaeolus Cyanescens. They were all white and found in cow dung. How good are these? Are there any deadly lookalikes? I found a lot of them.

Yes, cyanescens means "becoming blue" in latin. Their spores are dark purple and couldn't be confused for pink. Pan cyans grow in Florida, Hawaii and other tropical climates, they're very potent, I dunno about lookalikes. I seriously doubt that you found them in the PNW, though if I recall correctly it has happened before, but I'm quite sure that was a freak occurence. You want Psilocybe cyanescens, not Panaeolus.

Good Hunting!

DH

Hello, debbii077!
What state do you live in? This is a very important factor here. There are actually 2 types of "commonly called" cyans, being Psilocybe cyanescens and Panaeolus(Copelandia) cyanescens. Both are quite potent mushrooms and both will bruise blue where handled by human hands or effected by nature.
In the United States, Psilocybe cyanescens can commonly be found in the PNW in manicured lawns, white-grayish beauty-bark-mulch and, to a lesser degree, the forest floor, among alder, maple and some other hardwood trees(Also rododendrons!).
Panaeolus cyanescens, on the other hand, prefers warmer, tropical climates and can be found in cow dung especially in the Southeastern and Gulf Coast area of the United States.
I have never picked Panaeolus cyanescens, but I'm almost sure that they are not growing this time of year, because of the Fall-Weather-Patterns. Please do not quote me, as I could be wrong here.
If you were to find a "cyan" in cow dung, it would most likely be Panaeolus cyanescens! Although, the spore print would be pretty much jet-black and definitely NOT pinkish/purple!
Psilocybe cyanescens will have a medium-colored brownish print with hints of blue, maybe purple to some eyes! :)
Stay cool!-Levi7.

I live in WA, the ones that I found have small white caps, thin stem (white), almost black gills and I found them in cow or horse dung.
Also, I have some that very much resembled the pic's of cyan's they have a rusty brown/orange color cap but they have an orange stalk. Are they supposed to have a white stalk with that same orange cap?
