Hydrapod?
    #439909 - 10/28/01 10:25 PM (22 years, 10 months ago)

Im intriqued by this device.. looks very good, i hate having to maintain my cakes every friggan day... its a hassle. The thing that shuns me away from the hydra pod is the little room it provides...
I was told by the site admin that 50% of the geo-lite surface must be unoccupied
THATS BS
50%?!?!?!?!
FUCKing christ if i spend 170 bucks on something i expect it to be alot better then that...
does anyone know how many cakes you could fit on there?
Using the standard 1/2 pint jar? while still leaving 50% free?

If you want a hydra pod I would put a bottom layer of 20& geolite and 80% vermiculite and put your cakes on top with a fish aquarium pump. Personally I like converting old ebb & flos with geolite and perlite and run it just below the surface of the mixture (becareful cause perlite can clog your drains). Its the same thing if you buy a dome for it, general hydroponics has everything and it holds more cakes alot more. But you are paying alot more but then you always do when you buy hydroponic equipment.

the pics ive seen look like, 7-8 1/2 pint (tall) cakes. you could do one big cake with a hole in the centre as well, i suppose. the 50% figure is so that proper air entrainment is achieved and every cake is exposed to the optimum amount of air exchange and circulation. you could email mcman from his site and ask specifics.

O.K, I am gonna come out of the closet now and admit I do indeed own a hydrapod. Wow! I feel alot better now.Whew! What a relief! I got that monkey off my back. Anyway, as to how many cakes it can hold, the answer is 7 half-pint cakes. I use wide mouth jars so the cakes end up being somewhat fat, so I place them on their side. One in the middle, six spread evenly on the perimeter. And yes folks, the pod works VERY well for me.

I really don't want this to be an ad for the pod,but let's just say afoaf gets MUCH better results with his pod (many, many, many more pins per cake)than he does using perlite. He grows Thai koh samui, B+, and ecuador.

Well, it's really not a kit. It's a growth chamber that provides the perfect environment for colonized cakes.

You obviously had quite some success with the pod. Do you perhaps have any pictures showing it in action? Did you use standart pf-cakes inoculated with s a spore syringe or specially prepared cakes?

I highly doubt Jared is a narc, he did the artwork for the new sporeworks layout.

but at the other end of the spectrum I believe it is much more of a possibility of McMan posing as someone else under another name to generate publicity for his bucket...since all the non-newbies on here know his true colors.

OK Araya, you have 20 posts.
Every single one of them talk about the wonders of the hyrapod.
Hey kids, come watch the puppet-show!
When someone like Anno starts saying the pod is a good buy then i might consider it.

Oh Yes Because Anno is the most knowledgeable on the subject.
Thats why he invented the pod in the 1st place....
LOL
I may post 50 more about the pod because it is a good(make that great) product. As for being a puppet check the e-mail and you will see otherwise.
