Storing Jars
    #4398207 - 07/12/05 11:40 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

I couldnt find an exact answer to this. I was wondering, while storing inoculated PF jars, should I cover the needle holes with tape or not. I have a TIT setup, so should I remove the tape to allow for air exchange? And how tight should the lid be on? Thanks.

I leave the tape on 'til the myc has a firm footing in the sub, because the more myc there is the easier it is for it to fight off contams..

But I think everyone does it a little differently, some people use foil, some people use filters etc..

Thanks, also, Ive noticed in 1/2 pint jars (tall ones) that the mtc starts in the top but doesnt always make it all the way down the jar. Is there any way to prevent this. The fat jars maybe?

when that happens to me, I take the tape off, and flip the jars.. The myc always wants to seem to grow up, and also this lets the C02, which is heavier than oxygen fall out the holes..

Airtight=no colonization. How would you like it if I shut you in an airtight jar  :satansmoking:

At about 10-20% colonized, I take the tape off...

Try this.
When inoculating, tip your jars at an angle. This will allow the spore solution to run down the inside of the glass and spread out more. Reaching the bottom and not being sucked in at the inoculating point.

Good Luck
