something metallic on my shrooms
    #4397717 - 07/12/05 09:19 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

so i was examining some shrooms that i have a little more closely than usual, and i noticed that on some of the stems is this small silver spot. it looks kind of metallic. the only way that i noticed it was that it kind of sparkled off my ceiling light. i've had these shrooms for awhile now, and didnt notice it until now. i touched it, and it felt a little different to the touch than the rest of the stem feels. i tried to peel and it does sort of peel off.

i'm not sure what it is, it could be from whatever they were growing on maybe, but i dont know. i tested them out a little over a week ago and they seemed fine, although i didnt notice this on the shrooms i ate, but i wasnt really looking at them that closely. i have 5/8s of them and it seems to be on one or two stems in 3 of the eighths. i dont think it is, but is this something i should be worried about? its very insignificant, just a little suspicious.

i'll take some pictures tomorrow if anyone wants to see.

Does it look like this?

That's verm, it's used in growing mushrooms.

looks like it's just a piece of vermiculite.

It's nothing to worry about

that's what i thought at first, but i remember reading in someone elses post awhile back that there was something weird on his shrooms, and it turned out to be vermiculite, but when he described i dont recall it being like that.

i guess it is though, i mean what else could it be. for the most part its near the bottom of the stems too, so it must be. thanks for the reply
