funny looking cake

My cakes are looking funny. They have bright white splotches almost as is a mushroom has started to grow but there is no mushroom, just the bright white splotches.
Any ideas?

yeah its quite common
all you have to do is leave them in the jars for a while after they are fully colonized.

I see now. How long do you leave your cake in after seeing first pin? By the way, that is wierd-the white splotches thing.

are the white splotches very fuzzy? if so, its just new, healthy mycelium

usually mine have finished colonizing before any shrooms appear so i case them.
But once i had no room in my terrarium and had to leave the other jars fully colonized for a couple of weeks - thats when they appeared
