Pan Cyan

I'm knocking up some Poo/WBS jars with Pan Cyan tonight, and I just wanted to make sure that they like the same temp range for incubating and fruiting as Cubes..

So Kalix u have the poo in the jar with the WBS?

Or u mean just WBS jars which will later be spawned to poo?

cheers

Poo and WBS in the jar.. As I understand, Pan spawns much more readily to poo, if you look in the Pan section of the archive, everybody in there recommends doing that, they actually recommend putting verm in there too, but I simmered the WBS, so I don't want too MUCH moisture.. I will spawn it to poo when it is colonized though, I just knocked up the Quart jars @ 7:45, after force cooling them. (they are only half full). I also am doing a little experiment, I knocked up a half pint of straight h-poo.. I'll keep you guys posted, and this Friday I will buy a camera, so I can show you some pics!

Ahh interesting, havent spent much time readin the hardcore cyan section as yet, i was actually wondering whether chuckin some poo in BRF jars would be benificial.

Will save this thread to my favs, look forward to see'n how it all turns out, all the best with it

Verm is added at that point really for fluffiness and texture and to absorb excess water. When you simmer and add stuff, sometimes theres some excess water. Adding the verm just balances it out, because you add it dry and dont add any more water. Adding more dry content without water=drier jars, not wetter. Often wetter is a bigger problem. If you did everything well though it shouldnt be needed..its just kind of a help. Try not to shake them, best to knock up around the glass squirting in a circle so you never have to shake, if you do, try only once..they dont seem to like it much.

I don't even shake my cubes, I've killed 3 jars shaking, there's no point as far as I'm concerned, and I put the poo in bone dry, to make it fluffier, and absorb extra moisture, so I figured verm would be overkill.. Not to mention, it would hold water and make me nervous about Bacillum!

And thanks Kenobi! Hopefully there will be success!

Like I said, it can be done right without verm for sure..and this would be the best way to do it IMO..I think you'll turn out fine.

Are those Jamaicans? Did you use verm? How thick where your subs? And how thick where your casing layers?

Let me go check the syringe, I always forget the strain...
Ah, they are Aussies..

I used WBS/rye/rye grass seed/verm for spawn, spawned to horse poo/coco coir/worm castings/verm. Substrate was 1 3/4-2 inches deep. Casing mix was peat moss/verm/buffer VERY thin layer..less then 1/4", just cover the mycelium. I wouldnt use straight verm I dont think..

Is a shallower casing recommended? And did you use Quart jars for germination? And how long did it take to colonize your jars?

>Is a shallower casing recommended?

Yes, very much so. Keep it thin.

>And did you use Quart jars for germination?

Yes

>And how long did it take to colonize your jars?

Faster then cubies, though longer for germination. Probably 4-5 days before first signs, then colonized in about 5 more. I also did alot of grain to grain transfers and played with many a jar..alot of the time this is where it fails. If you end up with good spawn, your good to go..spawn that looks shitty, usually does shitty. G2G transfers can be done a generation, maybe 2..but I wouldnt go beyond that..

I believe it is you don't want to go to thick with pan cyans. Don't mean to hijack but scat what was your weight on that?

Those two casings were about 36 grams on that flush...second flushes were pitiful. Those are my best trays to date..others have been sparse fruiting.

I love G2G Ive had 100% success with that on 15 jars open air carpeted room, HEPA running, alcohol and lysol air. That video link really helped me out when he did agar wedge transfer to WBS. So much easier and faster then a multispore injection imho.

With fruits so thin, are you talking dry or wet?  This is why I'm wondering if I should try my hand at cyans--the very tiny fruit size.  It seems like you'd need a lot of surface area on your casings to get anything decent after a dried harvest.  Please enlighten me if you have any insights here.
