I use my trusty Zippo for cigarettes & joints, but to light a bowl it has to be a bic.

I love me a Cricket brand lighter. Best lighter out there imo.

I like disposable. They work, they're cheap, and they're readily available.

Ythan said: I like my Vector Gear a lot, especially since I'm at a high altitude. It works great, you can use it to smoke bowls, and it uses a lot less gas than regular torch lighters.
Link's not working.
Now I should have put other as I'm thinking about what I smoke with what and it varies. For a start I'm a fan of all things fire and have an assortment of lighters so I'm familiar with their pros and cons.
Zippos are good and fine for lighting joints. It is annoying how after two weeks they run out of petrol/naptha.
Disposable lighters do the job and I use them for candles and joss sticks. Works ok for starting a fire to.
Torches are my favourite. Here in Blighted HMP Britain it's a challenge to get anything lit, and these don't blow out half as much as other lesser lighting devices.
But on certain occasions, an ember for a fire, or a match is my favourite way to smoke a cone. Torches always give it a funny taste.
Actually, best firelighter I had was a friend of a friend is a chef, and as we were passing a bowl which we were having trouble getting it lit (this was a night where I was worried the weed would blow out of the cone, it was that windy). He runs off home, five minutes later is back with his blowtorch. And that did the trick, and tasted fine.

If you're getting black char marks, you're doing it wrong. Contrary to what you may think, holding the lighter too close actually doesn't heat up the glass as efficiently as a lighter held about 1.5cm from the surface. There shouldn't be black char at all.
I use bics for everything. They're the superior lighter by leaps and bounds, AND they're cheap.

Bics would be my first choice.
I also don't mind using the cheaper lighters with the adjustable flame, because you can pop the metal off and turn it way up which gets it to work better in windy situations.

Bic's are made in France. unsure of the relevance of that. But in Canada French is our second language and plenty of non French speaking persons hate French people. To boot they want to separate from Canada which is physically impossible.
I do not have all the facts but I'm sure they're out there

Strictly only a BIC. None of the other brands.

A BIC works always, giving good flame until the very last puff of gas is spent.

Has anyone tried thoese? They are the same cost as a bic. The longer button is nice when holding down the flame for a long time...

I lose so many lighters that it almost has to be a cheapo. IF I can find one that I get a little attached to (like my Kum and Go lighter) I do a bit better. I have zippos, but I pretty much only use them around the house. My Guinness one is my fave.
