What's max time on pinning from a casing?
    #4395501 - 07/12/05 12:53 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

I used 6 pint grain jars for my casing, not broken up, just layed them flat and covered the sides with verm/coir then the top with about 1/3" verm/coir as well. I put them in a small yellow tub with a glass lid to keep moisture in and allow light to pass through.

My question is, it's been AT LEAST 2 and a half weeks and still no pins, and yet the top of the casing is not completely colonized with myc either. The myc doesn't seem to be overlayed at all, it's still very ropy and standing almost straight up.

What's the longest amount of time I should wait before discarding the casing? I can't seem to get it to pin. It's sitting on my floor with a towel underneath it to keep it from getting TOO cold. Temp is probably 69-71ish. I fan it a minimum of 3 times daily. I would try sticking it in the fridge overnight, but space issues prevent me from doing that with this tub.

Normally 3-14days. Ive had one casing that took 18 days to pin though. I have no idea why.

Happy Trails and GL bro
