Pinning/Fruiting
    #4395139 - 07/12/05 06:51 AM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Hi,

I have successfully colonised my first PF cake. It appears to be pinning very well...i can see about fifty pins on the surface, but they are growing very slowly. I was expecting the shrooms to grow quite quickly.

I am giving the terranium natural light conditions i.e. by the window. Is it possible to give them too much light?
Also, I am thinking about transferring the cake from my coke bottle (poor mans terranium) to a slightly larger container. Are there any problems with that?

First, congratulations on your successful colonization. Second, your problem may be not enough fresh air exchange. I would move it to a bigger container if I had it and fan it 3 or 4 times a day. The light should not be a problem as long as direct sunlight isn't hitting them. Oh yeah, if you move the cake make sure your hands are clean and try not to damage the pins when lifting it. Good luck.

You can also give dunking a shot if you haven't already. After you have picked the shrooms, of course.
