Panaeolus subbalteatus pics!
    #4393859 - 07/11/05 10:39 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

All these hurricanes have brought over a foot of rain within the past two weeks in GA. Needless to say, my Pan subb patch has been going ape shit. I've been uber busy with work lately (I work 6 days a week now) so I haven't been posting much. I was feeling guilty about not posting so I took some pics of my finds and I'm finally finding time to upload them.

Before anyone screams "THOSE MUSHROOMS BE FOENS, NIGGA!" They're not. I've been picking this patch for about 4 years, and last Friday I had a nice level 3 trip from these mushrooms. They're Panaeolus subbalteatus.

They were found growing from a huge grass clipping compost pile in north eastern Atlanta suburbs, Gwinnett/Fulton area.

Here's the pics:

Sweet stuff, the subbs are boomin right now. There are new ones just pinning as of 7/11/05, and ones fully mature, almost rotting. I've noticed some pretty strange variation from different patches. Including cap coloration, ring length, cap shape. The tell tale is the stem having those groves where the gills join it and twisty stems... Pan subbs was one of the hardest mushroom to learn how to identify properly for me, but once I found a few I could know they are the real deal.
