if you really really want these there is a chance if you keep it totally seperate for it's whole life it'll produce. but that seems a little excessive and most of the time the trich seems to not die. so i'd say toss em

very bad

dump the jars...asp

and dump them outside your house...not in it.
you don't want contams all over the inside of your home.
then rinse your jars in a bleachy water solution...outside.

Rye/WBS mix is fastest, then rye, then WBS, then flours...IMO.

Thank God I don't get many contams in jars. When I do, I don't even open the jar. I toss the whole thing in a dumpster. Don't get that many, and jars aren't that expensive. Found 2 dozen quarts at Goodwill the other day for $1.

Would just WBS work? Any kind of Bird feed? This is not a jar. It's a "SHAKER" I like the container so I'll clean it with bleach and water. any way SO I put the WBS in the container....then can I microwave it? If so how long do you think it should be in there?

>Thank God I don't get many contams in jars. When I do, I don't even open the jar. I toss the whole thing in a dumpster.

Thats a BIG reason you dont get many contams. Keep your house as clean as possible and you almost never get contams...either way you end up starts a cycle..no mold spores means none grows and no mold spores created...but you get some going and that makes more..I always toss my jars without opening too...I've probably tossed 60 jars or more in my time...but thats among hundreds and hundred and when your only talking less then a buck a jar...it was so worth the 50 bucks to not clean those jars out all by itself..its so gross, WAY worse then poo...plus worth the 50 bucks over again to rarly get contams. And every time I do get a contam now, I know where it came from, and didnt come from..

I'm too much of a cheap ass to be throwing perfectly good jars away.

cleaning them outside and throwing them in some bleachy water...
really isn't that hard to do.

>Would just WBS work?

Yes.

>Any kind of Bird feed?

Get WBS, with not many sunflower seeds 5% or less, and lots of millet and milo.

>It's a "SHAKER" I like the container so I'll clean it with bleach and water.

That works.

>any way SO I put the WBS in the container....then can I microwave it?

If you want to take a chance. I sure as hell wouldnt.

>If so how long do you think it should be in there?

Since no "microwave" tek exists, you'll be experimenting so your guess is as good as anyones. Anywhere from 5-40 minutes.

Hey Scat, I got one of those mystery contam jars like the one you posted a while back. Did a couple dozen quart WBS jars 2 weeks ago. Didn't get around to using them right away. When I did, had 4 with some green,

and then had this one and thought of you,

obviously some type of mycelium. These jars were never inoculated.

Haha, thats great...mines colonizing still...but VERY slowly...damn WBS was to wet and its all sloppy and has some wet spot, probably 75% done though, which is about 3 quarts of colonized substrate...gonna try spawning in to poo in a few weeks.

I'm gonna have to see if I can get mine to fruit just to see WTF grows. Hope it's not some type of pod thing like invasion of the body snatchers, lol.

Goes to show the difference between PF cakes and WBS. I can store a jar for months and use with no problem. These sit 2 weeks and 5 out of 24 have something going on. That, folks, is why you need a PC to do grains. These jars were soaked 24 hours, simmered, PC'ed 90 minutes at 15 psi. and still couldn't get all the endospores. PEACE.

Magashs rye tek works well...mine isnt so much a tek, but a long description on how I prep my grain for fruiting...in my signature click the link "How I Do Grain". I do believe you have alot of reading to do though, you seem very unsure and confused about some basic things.

Before you use that PC, you better give it a good inspection. Gaskets and such. A bad PC can be dangerous.

WEll, you're new, need to do a lot of reading, and I wouldn't recommend doing grains without a PC. You want to use a microwave, you are going where some have gone before. None of stayed and they never return. If it could be done with good results, don't you think peeps would be doing it ?
